OLD RAILWAY STATION BAGÉ - CURRENT ADMINISTRATIVE CENTER

The history of Iron River Grande-Bage road - began in 1873, when the decree n ° 2397 of 10 September, originated the line design Rio Grande-Bage-Alegrete.

        The contract for exploration and studies of this line was signed on 15 April 1874 in accordance with Decree No. 5565 of 14 March of the same year.

        It was this road concessionaire citizens Higino Correia duration, which had given up the rights from the concession that had been made by the Provincial Government in 1871.

        The contract in question, more or less obeyed, contract templates for the aexploração and studies of Porto Alegre railroad to Uruguaiana, with the difference in the division snippets, which was as follows.:

       The August 22, 1874, Eduardo Jose de Moraes Engineer received government instructions to also inspect the line studies Rio Grande aAlegrete.

       The contract with Higino Durão was extended, but the dealer could not bring to completion.

       In December of that year the '' Compagnie Impériale du Chenin de Fer '', by decree No. 8346, managed to get privilege to build, use and enjoyment of a Rio Grande Railroad to Bage in 1883. Months later were merged the 'Compagnie Impériale du Chenin de Fer' 'with' 'Southern Brasilian Rio Grande do Sul Company' '.

       The July 7, 1883, this new company was authorized to operate in the Empire.

 On November 15, 1881, the City Council hired the distinguished Dr. Angelo Pio da Silva gentlemen, Lieutenant Colonel José Joaquim de Godoy and porphyry Alves da Silva, residing in Rio Grande, to join a representative committee, at the inauguration of the work of Railroad Southen Brasilian.

Almanak the RGS - 1899

 

       On October 14, 1924, a fire completely destroyed the building. On site, sixty days later, it started the reconstruction of the new train station, which fulfilled its mission to more than half of the 20th century.

       In the 70s, when the tracks came out from the city center, the station became operational in Santa Thereza. In the administration of Carlos Sá Azambuja, through an exchange with the Traffic Railway, the former station building has housed the administrative center of Bage City Hall (1980).
